About Us

Alli from Alimentos

Alimentos means food in Spanish

and being called Alli this was the perfect name for my catering business. It was by pure accident that I was asked to run my children’s school canteen. This fluke encounter changed my career path as I was an emergency nurse for almost 20 years and it sparked my simmering passion for food. Before long I was servicing twelve different primary schools with lunch orders from my Drouin location.

Then COVID broke out…

This proved to be a turning point in my business. To stay afloat I ventured into cooking family meals and delivering them to people’s homes; along with supplying corporate lunches to the nursing staff at the Lardner Park testing station. This led to me leasing my second location at Lardner Park’s commercial kitchen.

Now my empire has evolved to anything from catering 700 people at gala events to delivering a corporate meeting and home cooked meals for one. No two days in my job are ever the same, the frenetic vibe of a fast-paced kitchen inspires me to keep pushing the boundaries of who I can feed and how it can be delivered.

My investment in the food industry goes beyond servicing and employing local people, but buying from local growers and wholesalers, and educating myself with a Commercial Cookery Qualification. In early 2024, I was selected to be a finalist in the famous competition “Proud to be a Chef.” An opportunity which develops and supports future culinary leaders. This intensive competition took me all over Victoria where I was taught by some of Australia’s top chefs. An experience which will never be forgotten.

Now it’s 9 years down the track and none of this would be possible without the support I have from my family, friends and colleagues. I could never have dreamt of cooking for so many people. Going on this wild ride has pushed me outside my comfort zone and I have achieved things I never thought possible. Food brings people together and I love creating the experience for everyone to enjoy.
